Scaling szn: Farcaster's expansion era begins • TWiF #5

Before we get into the updates… As you may or may not know, TWiF is also a livestream series and podcast. The first three episodes are on Spotify and YouTube — soon Pods as well 🤞 (Relevant: "Spinning up an onchain brand.")
Most recently: Samuel Huber joined to discuss $100k Counter-Strike skins, whether crypto can get a piece of that action, and European vs. American mindsets. Plus the global fertility decline. Look, we covered a lot of ground, which is appropriate when you're linking up across an ocean.
Next livestream: Linda from Bountycaster on February 20 at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / bring-your-own-timezone. RSVP to join live!
Next on the podcast:
- Salvino of Yapster talks to Abram and Will about whether "minimum viable product" is a valid concept, Solana vs. EVM, and cramming maximum adrenaline into 15 minutes. You can already listen to the replay on X (the action starts about 6 minutes in).
- Kenny from poidh (pics or it didn't happen 😏) on bragging rights as a service, how he used to be a rockstar, and the early days of Farcaster. Catch the replay on Streamm. Also, here's a beginner's guide to poidh.
Alright, what happened this week?
Merkle / Warpcast
Multiple rounds of congratulations are in order 🎊
First: "the Base team is building a Farcaster feed into Coinbase Wallet!" Awesome, more distribution for everybody. Why it matters:
Coinbase Wallet's large existing userbase can easily use frames and complete onchain transactions with their embedded wallet. Ship a frame and immediately go live in multiple apps.
Next, Super(cast) has been acquired by Merkle and @woj.eth is joining the team to focus on user growth.
Is that all? Nope, @ted has also been hired to "help grow a community that’s meant so much to me for so long." 🥹
And the Snapchain testnet is live.
@dwr.eth went on GM Farcaster to discuss these momentous developments.
Meanwhile, @luc made a Dune dashboard of the Warpcast Rewards leaderboard.
Frames
Just Frame It is "a 2 months build sprint to reframe the future of social feeds." Apply to the buildathon.
Tina He used OnchainKit to create a template for frames v2 mini apps, available on Replit and GitHub.
"Frameception" has evolved; now you can create a frame by simply tagging @maschine. Here's an example from @chaim.eth.
Index investing in a frame: "Simply quote @basketdotfarm, mention the tokens you want to include, and specify the % of each token in your Basket." Demo.
Use Nfeed (think "in-feed") to share music via frame.
"Live sports markets are now onchain!" @db reviews and explains Bracket.
The $SOCIAL project launched an in-frame live chatroom. Neat! (There's another asset involved called Pixiedust / $PDUST, the intended purpose of which is somewhat complex.)
Surprising that it took this long to get an in-frame slot machine.
@keccers.eth describes making a frame for NASA's Astronomy Photo of the Day.
Clankerverse
@proxystudio.eth shared "two exciting launches":
@clanktank by @flex, an agentic shark tank with clanker. agent is in theory self-sustaining: earns fees from $TANK, and when they 'like' or 'love' an idea they deploy it and buy 10% or 20%. utility too, pretty elegant concept and execution
@productclank by @lior, product hunt with clankers. bootstrap & get attention on your product. Good concept, and Lior raised $100k on Party to fund development which is pretty significant
OpenRank Clanker Scores have been upgraded with two more APIs.
@deployer has new plans for the Ham project ($TN100x) in light of the success of Bankr ($BNKR), hinging on both staking and bridging. Definitely read the thread if you hold either asset.
Also:
We are going to put the current version of Bankr on Warpcast in maintenance mode while we migrate to the latest version here.
If you added your X account to the waitlist you now can access the private terminal at www.bankr.bot and interact with Bankr on X.
@derek debuted a new frame for $NATIVE that "includes announcements, notifications, and swaps," especially swaps. It's open-source, built by @nonomnouns.
Also: "Passports v2 is coming and is being built as a full app."
Miscellaneous
(Should this section be called "Extra goodies" or something? "Miscellaneous" has no panache.)
"You can now turn any idea into a crypto-enabled app in minutes thanks to Ohara, complete with @privy embedded wallets, Apple Pay funding, and more."
Sablier adds instant airdrops.
Serotonin head of product @michael dissected Clanker competitor Flaunch.
Solana meme-trading app Yoyo integrated Farcaster.
@macedo: "$BUILD is now a fully decentralized token of appreciation. No treasury, no gatekeepers, 100% community-owned."
Tap.computer, also /tap, is a "grok/perplexity for farcaster tool" by @dylsteck.eth.
The fourth edition of the Ethereum Investors Club magazine dropped — free to read online, or subscribe to the print edition.
Paragraph redesign. Very nice!
@ilemi is "excited to announce I've started /herd to build the next-generation explorer that we all have really wanted (and needed)." Lol: "It's time to smarten up crypto agents and humans by dumbing down smart contracts."
Amen, may we all left-curve it 🙏
What caught your eye this week? Hit reply and let me know.
Cheers,
Sonya
